RIVERBEND HISTORICAL PARK

Public BBQ

Riverbend Historical Park sits along the Werribee River like a well-kept secret that locals are rather fond of keeping to themselves. The sort of place where you can launch a kayak from the proper dock, watch an improbable variety of birds go about their business, and let your dog run free in one of those increasingly rare off-lead areas. The barbecue facilities and picnic tables are thoughtfully positioned for maximum river gazing, though you'll need to plan your bladder accordingly. There's a conspicuous absence of toilets, which seems rather optimistic of the council. The walking track meanders beautifully alongside the water, offering those magnificent river views that make you forget you're still technically in suburbia.
